    What is Coaching?

    Coaching is a powerful alliance between coach and client. This dedicated partnership gives you the opportunity to see what is really going on inside and set an action plan in motion that is aligned with your personal values and vision. I hold my clients naturally creative, resourceful, and whole and provide accountability to support your transformation from unconscious patterns to conscious choice. It can be extremely powerful!


    Our coaching relationship will motivate and inspire you to identify and create the personal and professional life you want. Our conversations focus on you and your current experience, what you want more of, and what you want to realign. Coaching can be tailored to your needs in that moment, and may include setting goals, celebrating achievements, exploring self-limiting beliefs, and acknowledging your emotional well-being.


    Coaching helps you reconnect with who you are, what is important to you, and creates an environment for personal & professional transformation. Each individual already has the answers within them - and the coaching relationship helps bring those answers to the surface and make them tangible and actionable.

    How effective is coaching?

    Coaching promotes creativity, problem solving, and increased resilience, helping individuals and organizations to navigate environments where there is continuous change. Coaching equips you with the tools, knowledge, and opportunities you need to fully develop yourself and to be more effective in your work and private life.


    Neuroscience research reveals coaching tools can help clients develop positive neural networks, respond more calmly to stress, make choices more easily, and access much more of their creativity.     Norman Doidge, a neuroplasticity expert, points out that there is substantial evidence that we can “rewire our brains with our thoughts.” Coaching supports the individual, as new choices and actions grow neural activity in the brain. Doing things differently can be difficult in the beginning because those pathways in your brain are not yet well established. Coaching supports you as you permanently integrate new ways of doing things, and over time your brain is able to support those new methods independently. Because the default in our brain is to go with the pathways that are developed, it is difficult to change without focused, supported, intentional effort.

    What can I expect from coaching?

    As your coach, I am an accountability partner, a sounding board, a cheerleader, and a flashlight that directs your attention to places begging illumination. Coaching conversations are fundamentally different than any other type of conversation you may have, and are better experienced than discussed (read: experience coaching will answer more questions than reading an explanation of it!)


    Coaching is empowers you to think outside of the box and expand your current awareness. It helps you to think, “What could be different?” “What is my role here?” “What am I doing well?” “What if I did x differently?” “What if…”


    Coaching with Amanda addresses your whole life. Regardless of the topic(s) you bring to coaching the outcome is something that can be applied to many areas of your life - both personally and professionally. Whatever you may be experiencing in the present moment can be enhanced and investigated through coaching. We may discuss professional development and career change, goal-setting, work relationships, family, romantic partners, obstacles standing in your way, or what is at your emotional core. When we empower the coaching relationship, we can tackle it all. Your only limitation will be how brave you are willing to be and what you are willing to bring to the table. Coaching will bring clarity to your vision for the future and help you create a realistic and lasting actions to achieve it.


    You come to work with me because you want more. There’s something (or many things) you experience in your life that aren’t working and you just need some additional support to understand where you are today and how to move things forward. I can be a powerful partner in helping you determine where you want to go next, and hold you accountable towards taking steps towards your vision.

    How is coaching structured?

    A coaching program is uniquely designed for each client, depending on your specific needs and growth areas. At present, Amanda offers two types of coaching packages to work with clients over the course of either six or twelve months - with sessions lasting 60 minutes and taking place twice a month.


    Amanda works with most of her clients virtually to accommodate busy work schedules and international time zones. Most of her clients love the flexibility of being coached from the comfort of their home, or in a quiet and reflective space that allows the freedom to be open and courageous. If clients are located in the same city (or happen to be in the same place at the same time) coaching sessions can take place face-to-face, as agreed.


    In the event that the coaching relationship does not work for either coach or client, a courageous conversation will take place to address what isn't working and how to improve it. Coaching only works if both coach and client are completely committed to the process and willing to put in the time, energy, and action to create transformation.

    How is coaching different from therapy? Or consulting?

    Coaching and therapy work with different paradigms. Each practitioner works differently - therapy tends to treat past emotional issues while coaching focuses on where you are today and where you want to be in the future. Coaches ask profound questions which empower you to think about your circumstances in a new light, and find answers within.


    Coaches do not delve into past wounds or work with clients on “fixing problems”, nor do they diagnose or treat clinical disorders such as anxiety, depression, addiction, or phobias. Therapy or counseling tends to focus on your history and what brought you to where you are today. Both coaching and therapy can be highly effective relationships that support individuals at different times of their lives based on a different set of needs at the time.


    A consultant, on the other hand, is an expert that is hired specifically to tell you how to do something. They share their professional expertise and wisdom on specific areas, whereas a coach holds the client as resourceful, creative, and capable to determine the best solutions on their own.

    Is coaching worth the investment?

    Coaches help maximize the potential of each individual. A coaching process is unique for each client, but ultimately the goal is to support you to pursue new ideas and create alternative solutions that will help you with any situation that may arise in your life.


    In hiring a coach, you are investing in your own growth and development. You are investing in yourself as an individual. You are committing to change and are saying “no” to continuing to live the same life as before. You are investing in having an accountability partner who will empower you, and insist on embracing discomfort for the sake of breaking through to the next level. You are NOT investing in a one-size-fits-all solution. You are committed to change your thoughts, your actions, and your life.


    Many people feel they cannot afford to work with a coach, but they have not fully considered the cost of not working with a coach. Once clients realize the real value they have gained from coaching, they often ask why it took them so long to start.

    Why get coached by Amanda?

    Amanda is a highly intuitive and empathetic coach who has dedicated her career to pursue purpose-driven work. She started out in advertising, working for a large digital marketing agency in NYC before quitting her job and moving to Paraguay to volunteer with WWF. In working with WWF, Amanda recognized the impact she could have at a global scale by being a part of such a large international organization, and she accepted a job to lead a sustainable agriculture and forest protection project with WWF Germany in Berlin.


    Upon recognizing that the organizational structure of her workplace did not allow for the kind of personal or professional development she craved, Amanda sought a better system for engaging people at work. She began leading training programs with colleagues in South America to improve their fundraising and storytelling abilities, and trained as an in-house coach to coach colleagues across the globe.


    Amanda also enrolled in an Executive MBA program with IE Business School in Madrid to improve her impact in the workplace with amplified knowledge about how to run a business and lead teams effectively. She recognized that many organizations face similar struggles with keeping talent and giving them the opportunity to grow and thrive at work. She dedicated herself to improving the workplace culture and organizational development within WWF - and realized that she could expand her impact by working from the consulting side.


    Amanda accepted a role a Director of Product Design for a leadership development consultancy based in Berlin - and began developing and facilitating leadership programs for organizations such as UNICEF, World Bank Group, and World Economic Forum, among many others notable clients, It was from this place of learning and growth that Amanda decided to pursue her coaching certification more pointedly. She left her director role and began training with the Coaches Training Institute (CTI) in Munich and Singapore.


    At this same time, Amanda founded The Courage Factory to help organizations emphasize the importance of personal development and personal growth in leadership - as well as to create intentional organizational culture which inspires individuals to show up with full heart and with purpose to their work every day.


    Over her 12 year career, Amanda has continuously and consciously made the courageous (and often difficult) choice. She never settles for an unfulfilling life and believes in the pursuit of passion and purpose. Her ambitions have lead her to leave behind the comforts of home and living an "easy" life in favor of pursuing her dreams, wherever they may take her. She is willing to make the hard choices and test out unknown waters to make it more comfortable for those who come after her to do the same.


    Amanda uncovered her passion for helping people unlock their potential and find the same fulfillment and pride in their professions and lives that she feels by chasing her own courage. She now dedicates herself full time to helping people like you to find the courage to do what they never believed was possible and take action!
